There are three things you can do with the Shup application. The main thing you can do is upload images to sites such as Flickr or Image Shack. You can also set it up so you can upload images (and other types of files) to your own web server. So that’s the main thing you can do with Shup. The other two things you can do with the application is capture what’s displayed on the screen and edit an image of your choosing.

To get Shup up and running on your Windows-powered PC, you will need to download a 691Kb executable and run it. The setup wizard that shows up when you run the file asks you if you want to install a few extras on top of the Shup core files. The setup wizard asks you if you want a shell extension (Shup integrates with the right click context menu), themes, create Start Menu shortcuts, and start Shup when Windows boots up.

The functionality Shup has to offer is never more than a right click away. Simply right click on an image and you will be presented with the options to open the image in Shup, upload the image to Flickr, Image Shack and other similar online services, or upload the image to your very own server.

While Shup is running, you will see an icon in the system tray. Right click it and you will see the option to capture the desktop. After the screenshot is taken, it will be opened in Shup so you can edit it and upload it to the web. It must be mentioned here that you can set up hotkeys for capturing the desktop – either the entire desktop or just the active window. It must also be mentioned that Shup keeps track of all your uploads in a searchable database.

Shup is a free application. You can use it free of charge for as long as you want.

Shup is a very handy tool for uploading images to the web. On top of that, it can edit images and it can capture what’s displayed on the screen.

Pros

Shup integrates with the right click context menu. Change the way the application looks by picking one of several themes. Upload images and other file types to various image hosting services or to your own server. Enable hotkeys for capturing the entire screen or just a specific window. Shup is free.

Cons

The image editing functionality is pretty basic. Shell extension is broken on 65-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 editions.
